A letter to a young woman
I wrote a letter
I wrote a letter to a person I’d never met before.
I know the recipient is female, in her teens and as a member of The Girls’ Network she has asked for guidance and direction as she steers this overwhelming path called life!
What is The Girls’ Network?
The Girls’ Network is a charity that connects young women from least advantaged communities with professional female mentors who inspire and empower them to thrive.
Last year I applied to be a Girls' Network Mentor - to share my skills and experience with a young woman who might not benefit from this support otherwise.
After completing an application form, I had a brief interview before being accepted onto the training programme in mentoring and safeguarding. I had a final assessment before receiving confirmation I had been successful in my application.
I’m now in a pool of mentors waiting to learn who their mentee is.
I'm soon to meet my mentee via Zoom and start the year-long mentoring journey - empowering her to overcome her obstacles, aim high and dream big!
Until then I've written her a letter to introduce myself and ask her a few questions to get to know her a little better.
